President/Executive Director

Karim A. Muhammad (aka J. Roger Powe III) is the President and Executive Director of Sister Clara Muhammad CDC. With over 25 years of leadership in community development, strategic communications, and nonprofit management, he brings extensive expertise in organizational growth, fundraising, and cultivating partnerships to advance the CDC's mission of empowering underserved communities.  

Treasurer

After undergraduate studies in music and finance at New York University and Brooklyn College, he pursued Graduate studies in the MBA/CPA program at Pace University in New York City. Since 1985, Hassan began selling primarily Investment Properties in New York City.

Since 2006, he relocated to 30 Wall Street in NYC and has been actively selling mostly Investment Properties in core markets throughout the USA. 

Hassan is currently the treasurer of the SCM CDC. 

Architect Designer

Philadelphia Masjid, home of the

historic Sister Clara Muhammad School, where he taught for many years. He was born in the City of Philadelphia in 1950. At the present time, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Center of Philadelphia and the  UPENN Religious Community Council.

He is also an Advisory Board member of the UPENN Center for Community Partnerships and a member of the Economic Inclusion Commission at the UPENN Office of Government and Community Relations.

Community Liaison

Vanessa Lowery Brown is a devoted public servant and community advocate who has long championed the voices of Philadelphia residents. A graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls and attendee of Howard University, she began in grassroots organizing, supporting neighborhood coalitions and local businesses. She later served nearly a decade in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 190th District, advancing equity, education, and opportunities for underserved communities as an active member of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus. Today, she continues leading programs that empower at-risk youth, families, and seniors.

Community Liaison

Sherri Horsey Darden, BA, MS, has dedicated her work life to helping people. The  owner and publisher of ScoopUSA Media,  for seven years - providing news and information to communities throughout Philadelphia and tri-state area.  She worked as a Human Resources Manager at the Defender Association of  Philadelphia, as liaison to the Chief Defender for 3 years, and as a human resources rep for over 20 years. While at the Defender, she worked to advance the mission of providing criminal defense services to people who cannot afford legal representation. She also currently serves as the Chair of the National Congress of Black Woman and active board member for Gesu School.

Senior Advisor

April Scott Street is Senior Advisor to the Philadelphia Register of Wills, leading citywide outreach to promote estate planning, preserve generational wealth, prevent tangled titles, and reduce tax burdens from delayed probate. She began her career in healthcare as a surgical technician at Cooper Hospital, later working as a medical assistant at Camden County Correctional Facility and a phlebotomist with the American Red Cross. While caring for her father, she transitioned into real estate for greater flexibility. A licensed Realtor®, contractor, and construction manager, she has experience in property management, business ownership, and operates a mobile notary service. She serves on the Uptown Theater board. April is married to State Senator Sharif Street and is a mother, grandmother, and longtime kinship caregiver.

ICPIC Consultant

  Abdul-Rahim Muhammad founder-executive director of the Islamic-Cultural-Preservation & Information-Council, a non-profit 501-C3 educational-cultural organization founded in1991, the New-Africa-Center/ Muslim-American-Museum & Archive in 2005 and the ICPIC-New Africa-Center CDC in 2013.

ICPIC produces the Islamic-Heritage-Festival at Penn’s Landing, the New-Freedom-District-Tour, and the NFD-Initiative using Arts-Cultural-History & Neighborhood-Identity as-an economic-engine to rebuild our community. 

Developer

I am an innovative and result-driven Real Estate and Business Developer with Over 20 years’ experience managing real estate and infrastructure investments. Adept in portfolio management strategies of real assets with an extensive knowledge of financial and business analysis. A notable capacity in helping minority businesses get certification is underpinned by an aptitude for driving business results by creating innovative and profitable real estate investment fund solutions for institutional and private clients. Highly skilled at managing multiple projects with tight deadlines. Strong financial reporting, budget management, team management and leadership skills with compliance expertise and knowledge, working internationally across multiple regulatory regimes.
